I’ll be taking part in a few blogathons next month and in September.
First up is the Rule Britannia Blogathon, hosted by A Shroud of Thoughts. I’ll be writing about the British version of Gaslight, a more faithful adaptation of the original play and one MGM notoriously tried to bury.
Next, I’ll be heading way, way out with The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, my entry for the Jeff Goldblum Blogathon, hosted by Realweemidget Reviews and Emma K Wall Explains It All.
August is Summer Under the Stars month on TCM. The 23rd is Fred Astaire day and I’ll be writing about Top Hat for the TCM Summer Under the Stars Blogathon, hosted by Journeys in Classic Film and Musings of a Classic Film Addict.
My entry for Lady Eve’s Reel Life and Silver Screen Modes’ Vive la France! Blogathon will be about a musical dear to my heart: Jacques Demy’s glorious The Young Girls of Rochefort.
In September, Cinema Essentials and Maddy Loves Her Classic Films are commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the start of the Second World War with The World War II Blogathon. I’ll be writing about Powell and Pressburger’s A Canterbury Tale.
For the Costume Drama Blogathon, hosted by Moon in Gemini, I’ll be writing about A Scandal in Paris, which stars George Sanders as a proto-Arsène Lupin.
And for the Siskel and Ebert at the Blogathon, hosted by 18 Cinema Lane, I’ll be writing about Your Movie Sucks: a collection of Roger Ebert’s wonderful reviews of some truly dreadful films.
See you at the movies.
